by admin | Jun 9, 2026 | Vancouver Local | 0 comments

Vancouver is about to host the biggest sporting event in its history. Seven FIFA World Cup matches at BC Place. A free FIFA Fan Festival running all summer at the PNE. Thousands of fans from every corner of the planet descending on East Vancouver, Downtown Vancouver, and everywhere in between.

And cannabis is legal here.

If you're a football fan visiting from outside Canada — or a local getting ready for the most electric summer this city has ever seen — here's everything you need to know about BC craft cannabis and World Cup match days in Vancouver.

Vancouver's World Cup Schedule: All 7 Matches at BC Place

All matches are played at BC Place Stadium, located at 777 Pacific Boulevard in downtown Vancouver.

The FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE: Watch Every Match for Free

Don't have tickets to BC Place? You don't need them to be part of it.

The official FIFA Fan Festival runs June 11 to July 19 at the historic PNE Grounds at Hastings Park in East Vancouver — free entry, every day, for the entire tournament. The centrepiece is a brand-new 10,000-capacity amphitheatre where all 104 tournament matches are screened live, alongside live music performances from Canadian and international artists. The site accommodates over 25,000 visitors per day.

The PNE is at 2901 E. Hastings Street — which puts it squarely between Canntina's Main Street and Renfrew Street locations. Stop in before the match, grab what you need, and head east to Hastings Park.

Getting there: Take the Millennium Line to Renfrew Station, then catch the dedicated FIFA shuttle bus along Renfrew Street to the PNE grounds.

Cannabis Is Legal in Vancouver — Here's What to Know

If you're visiting from another country, this might be your first time visiting a legal cannabis dispensary. Here's the short version:

You can legally:

  • Purchase cannabis from a licensed retailer if you're 19 or older
  • Consume cannabis in designated outdoor spaces and most private residences
  • Possess up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in public

You cannot:

  • Consume cannabis inside BC Place or any stadium
  • Smoke or vape cannabis within 6 metres of doors, windows, or vents of public buildings
  • Consume cannabis in vehicles
  • Take cannabis across the border when you leave — cannabis remains federally illegal in the US, and you cannot bring it home regardless of your destination

If you're in town for the matches and staying at a hotel, check with your accommodation on their cannabis policy before assuming outdoor consumption is fine. Many hotel patios and entrances fall within the restricted zones.

Why Canntina Is Worth the Visit on Match Day

There are a lot of dispensaries in Vancouver. What makes Canntina different is something most stores can't offer: we source directly from over 30 BC craft cannabis producers through a direct delivery program, rather than relying exclusively on the provincial wholesaler.

That means our shelves carry small-batch BC-grown cannabis from independent producers you genuinely won't find at most other stores in the city. For visitors who want to bring home a taste of British Columbia — or locals who want something special for a summer of football — it's worth knowing the difference.

Main Street (Downtown Vancouver)
910 Main Street - Open Every Day 9AM - 11PM

Renfrew Street (East Vancouver)
2637 Renfrew Street - Open Every Day 9AM - 11PM

Our Renfrew location is the closest to the PNE Fan Festival site at Hastings Park. Worth a visit before you head to the grounds.

What to Buy for Match Day: A Quick Guide

Not sure where to start? Here are a few product categories worth knowing about if you're shopping for a match-day session.

Pre-Rolls: The Low-Effort Option

Pre-rolls are exactly what they sound like — cannabis cigarettes, ready to go. For match day, they're the most practical format: no grinding, no papers, no fuss. At Canntina, we carry a range from single-strain to infused pre-rolls (more on those below). Great for an outdoor watch party at the PNE.

Infused Pre-Rolls: Elevated Experience

Infused pre-rolls are regular pre-rolls enhanced with a cannabis concentrate — live resin, hash, kief, or distillate — coated inside or outside the roll. They're more potent and more flavourful than standard pre-rolls. If you're experienced with cannabis and want something special for a Canada game, these are worth exploring.

New to infused pre-rolls? We've got a full guide coming soon — ask our staff in the meantime and they'll walk you through what's worth trying.

Vape Pens: Discreet and Convenient

Vape pens are a popular format for outdoor events because they're compact, produce minimal odour, and are easy to dose. Keep in mind the same consumption rules apply — you'll need to be in a permitted outdoor space.

Edibles: Not for Match Day

A genuine tip here: edibles (gummies, chocolates, beverages) take 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in, and the timing is unpredictable. We'd recommend against edibles if you're heading to a match within the next few hours — the onset windows don't pair well with a kickoff schedule.

BC Craft Cannabis and the World Cup: A Natural Fit

There's something fitting about Vancouver hosting the World Cup. This city has spent the last several years establishing itself as one of the most interesting cannabis markets in Canada — led largely by BC's independent craft producers. Small farms in the Okanagan, the Kootenays, the Similkameen Valley — producers who grow small batches with real intention.

Canntina was built around those producers. Our direct delivery program exists so that their work makes it to your hands without getting lost in a warehouse. For a summer when the whole world is watching Vancouver, we think that's a story worth sharing.

Plan Your Match Day Visit

Before the match: Stop by our Renfrew Street location on the way to the Fan Festival, or our Main Street location before heading downtown to BC Place.

Not sure what to buy? Our staff are actual cannabis enthusiasts, not sales people reading from a catalogue. Ask us what's new, what's BC-grown, or what we'd personally reach for for an outdoor evening.

For visitors: Yes, we get it — you've never been to a legal dispensary before. That's completely fine. Walk in, ask questions, and we'll help you find something appropriate for your experience level and the occasion.

Canntina operates two locations in Vancouver — Main Street in Downtown Vancouver and Renfrew Street in East Vancouver. We source directly from 30+ BC craft cannabis producers.
